What is Cydia?
Cydia is an app store alternative to the Apple’s default iTunes and probably this is the first app store to bring app’s joy since the arrival of iOS 1.x, when the Apple’s app store doesn’t even existed. Like all the other app stores, this is a vibrant app store with tons of apps arriving each week. It is rich in paid and unpaid apps, tweaks, games and utilities. The favorable thing that Cydia offers is the peak customization options for iPhone, which can change its screen looks to overall performance. All iPhone users know very well that Apple is strict to its default settings and doesn’t allow to alter them. This persistency towards default settings sometimes frustrates users. But Cydia brings brand new experiences to cater your default settings and make you feel like you have bought a new iPhone with your desired personalized settings and looks.
What are repositories?
You have often seen that if you want to download any of Cydia apps, then download it from the BigBoss repo and such others. These are the independent repositories who have softwares for sale and Cydia gives users a path to reach them. It is just like a browser from where you can browse and find the softwares that Cydia doesn’t own. Only the Telesphoreois owned by Cydia makers while other sources like BigBoss, ModMyi, and ZodTTD/MacCiti are independent sources that work in close association with Cydia. These sources come with Cydia when you download it, but you can add the repos of your choice also. To do this, open Cydia and tap on Manage button, then tap Sources->Edit->Add. Now enter the repo URL and tap on Add Source. Your repos will be added.
Cydia download is an easy process, first you have to jailbreak your iOS device. After jailbreaking, the Cydia icon appears on your iPhone or any iOS device. There are a number of jailbreaking tools available like Evasi0n, Redsn0w, Seas0npass, JailbreakMe, and many more.
Cydia needs periodical updates, once your Cydia is out dated it will show you a message for “Upgrade Essential”. Tap on the message and your iOS device will do the rest of the job. This is the easiest method available for Cydia upgrade.
Often some serious bugs cause Cydia to get stuck or crashed. In such case a reinstall is required. The easiest way to do so is the latest Cydia 1.0.3366-1 version which reinstalls your Cydia without any re-jailbreak.
